Rackspace Technology has officially entered into a strategic collaboration with Munich Transit authorities to deploy a sovereign edge cloud. Under the terms of the agreement, Rackspace engineers will build and operate fully sovereign Kubernetes inside secure municipal datacenters across Munich. This environment ensures that regional transport telemetry data remains entirely under local legal jurisdiction and adheres strictly to European privacy standards.

Managing high-velocity transit telemetry requires low-latency databases located close to transit hubs. Rackspace’s managed Kubernetes solutions automatically scale partition nodes depending on vehicle traffic volume, optimizing cluster density.

Regulatory Alignment

By keeping data strictly within municipal physical boundaries, the transit grid maintains complete sovereignty, completely eliminating risks of extraterritorial data retrieval warrants while delivering stable, secure public transit coordination.
