Published on:

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) published its first-quarter 2026 financial indicators on August 4, 2026. The report highlights that total assets within Egypt’s banking sector surged to EGP 26.9 Trillion, showing exceptional growth compared to EGP 24.1 Trillion at the close of 2025.

Solid Growth in Loans and Securities

This robust expansion was driven by a substantial rise in customer deposits, which reached EGP 11.39 Trillion, alongside elevated institutional investments in government Treasury bills and local securities.

Encouragingly, the ratio of non-performing loans remained extremely low and stable at 1.9%, indicating high resilience and prudent credit management practices across the nation’s commercial banking institutions.
