Stadtwerke München (SWM) has announced an ambitious new project to deploy solar power systems across more than 1,500 rooftops in the Munich metropolitan area. This decentralized solar grid initiative is designed to increase regional clean energy production significantly while reducing carbon emissions.
To integrate this massive influx of solar power smoothly into the existing electrical infrastructure, SWM is utilizing advanced edge computing units. These units run localized sub-second telemetry balancing algorithms to match production spikes with municipal consumption demand in real-time. By managing load balances dynamically, the city can prevent grid congestion without requiring heavy investments in traditional transformer substations.
